Expedition 3 – The Magadan Incident (2017)
In 2017 Marcus, Nils and John embarked on a challenge aplenty, traveling by motorcycle from Magadan Russia, in the middle of winter, with temperatures often reaching -40 or even less (record at -46c), up along the Kolyma River and the artic coastal tundra, in the Sakha Republic and into the Chukotka Autonomous Region, up to the western most point in Russia, south of Uelen. Then crossing Bearing Strait, via the Diomede Islands, and over to Alaska. All this on a motorcycle called a Rokon TrailBreaker and a cheap Korean SUV as a support vehicle. The entire adventure proved a challenge mechanically – it is difficult at those temperatures to keep things running and working properly – and the expedition ultimate failed short of reaching its goal, but we will be back to do this again and complete what we did not finish – Expedition 5.
