Siberia by Motorcycle

Motorcycling to the limits

Since September 2014 I have been travelling East from Berlin on my Mammoth Motorcycle Expedition.

A journey across Southern Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and across the Caspian Sea to follow the old silk route to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and into Russian Siberia. The last road East is ‘the road of bones’ and ends in Magadan. It is 2000kms of remote and challenging riding.

There is still a portion of Russian Siberia, larger than Europe, reaching up to the Bering Sea left to explore. This vast region of Wilderness has intrigued me always and I am determined to get there.  The only access to this hinterland is upon the frozen rivers during winter. In 2017 my friends John and Nils provided back-up vehicle support for me and my modified motorcycle as I attempted to drive the frozen rivers of Chukotka. Due to technical and gear issues the expedition halted, but is due to resume Winter 2019, with a new motorcycle, improved gear and, to cross unfrozen bodies of water, improved and self-engineered floatation devices for the bike.
